With succulent steaks and a chic setting, Tudor City Steakhouse has taken over the food scene in Midtown Manhattan. This special spot, which feels secretly tucked away despite being centrally located, is a popular spot for private parties, after-work drinks and business lunches.
“Nestled in the little slice of paradise that is the historic Tudor City complex, ours is a next generation steakhouse with a menu that not only showcases premium prime dry aged on-site beef specialties, but international dishes as well, reflecting our location across first avenue from the United Nations,” explained Mirso Lekic, who opened the restaurant two years ago. “We’re just three blocks from Grand Central Terminal, but it seems a world away in this quiet circa 1927 enclave that was the world’s first high rise residential development.”
Serving fine fare is all part of the Lekic family tradition. “The hospitality business is something both my father and grandfather made their living from. When I was a child, I used to visit them at work. When I got older, I decided this was in my blood, and was the right career choice for me.”
Indulge in enticing appetizers, prix fixe lunches and happy hours at this inviting space, where you will find wooden walls, tufted leather sofas and soft green chairs. This sleek spot is definitely not your grandparent’s steakhouse!
Their palatable prix fixe menus include three creative courses. Choose from crab cake or beet salad appetizer, which you are sure to enjoy every bite of, before digging into their Grilled Salmon served with sautéed string beans and carrots, Chicken Paillard with mixed greens and onions or Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken or Shrimp – just make sure to top off your mouthwatering meal with a tasty Cheesecake or Apple Cobbler! You will definitely leave dreaming about their Lobster Cocktail, Salmon Tartare, Bake Clams and oversized burgers. Other favorites include their Mixed Seafood made with Mussels, Clams, Calamari, Shrimp, Squid Ink, plus Citrus and Huancaina Sauce, the Lobster Risotto, the and Loin Lamb Chops which will have you licking your chops. Sit back and relax at their Late-Night Happy with bar bites, sangria, beer and wine, making this the perfect place to unwind.
While all of their diverse dishes are divine, the real showstopper at Tudor City Steakhouse is the steak! Their meats are all U.S.D.A Prime and dry-aged in their own aging boxes. Share the Porterhouse for two or more or dig into the Prime New York Sirloin Steak, Ribeye Steak, Skirt Steak and tantalizingly tender Filet Mignon. They also offer vegetarian options and fresh fish including Dover Sole, Chilean Seabass, Brook Trout and Grilled Yellowfin Tuna.
Although the restaurant industry is always a challenge, especially in New York, this hardworking and hospitable restaurateur, who is devoted to the hospitality business, said that it’s important to “adjust to the ever-changing dynamics of people going out to eat on many different levels of dining, ranging from cafe style, to casual fine dining, to captain service fine dining. It’s also about trying to find the right type of people to work in the restaurant and blending in with the neighborhood, so that guests – whether they be local, or coming in from elsewhere – enjoy themselves so much they come back again and again.”
According to Mirso, his gem of a restaurant is “a little off the beaten track of Manhattan, which makes it a peaceful little getaway. It is so close to Grand Central, but is in its own world, so to speak.”
He also recently opened Atto Prime Meats and Seafood a few months ago, so don’t be surprised if you see another Mirso restaurant in the future. When he’s not working, Mirso mostly enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
