When it comes to the “perfect” bra, it really depends on the woman wearing it and what she is looking for in terms of comfort and support, along with her personal style and the occasion. But what if there was a bra that could fit all women and be suitable for any time of day and activity? Triumph, the maker of lingerie since 1886 has created it: the Fit Smart bra. Not only does the Fit Smart bra provide comfort and support, but it also adapts to every woman’s life no matter how busy she is – whether at the office, picking up kids after school, or having a girl’s night out!
We sat down with Sian Thomas, Global Head of Creative Design at Triumph Of Europe, to discuss the innovations behind Triumph’s newest bra.
What sparked the creation of this new, innovative Fit Smart bra from Triumph?
We just launched the Fit Smart bra in Spring 2020 and it is the first product in our Design For Life range. Triumph has always been a brand known for innovation but we always make sure to listen to our customers and what they want and are seeking. As our customers have asked for more comfort, we sought to create a bra that would offer the trusted support that our customers expect from Triumph, paired with a new level of comfort that works with any woman’s body, and adapts to her daily movements and monthly breast changes.
What is the “smart fit” aspect of the bra?
The Fit Smart bra is unique as it comes in four simple sizes that adapt and mold to the female body. To develop the bra we used innovative new technology – 4D engineered stretch lace and a 4D stretch foam cup. Paired with intelligent inner construction, we created a bra that provides the ultimate comfort and support no matter a woman’s traditional cup size.
What is the 4D engineered stretch lace?
It is a lace that traditionally has been used for Shapewear, so we reimagined its lifting, smoothing, and shaping properties to work for a bra.
With only four sizes, how has Triumph ensured ultimate comfort and that it will adapt to fit so many different women when only offered in 4 sizes?
The Fit Smart bra’s simple look disguises the two years of innovation in bra construction and fabric technology that went into creating it. Without giving too much away, the innovative 4D stretchable cups and lace fabric stretch, mold, and lift the breast while the underband delivers support around the body. This allowed us to take a new approach to Bra Grading, which is the method used to create different sizes. The bra is adaptable to each individual and her cup size as the bra has a stable supportive underband with a more flexible stretch cup and straps, as well as extended back fastener adjustability.
Since it is wireless, how is it supportive?
Triumph’s 130 years of expertise in bra construction allowed us to ensure that we deliver great support. We have just interpreted our knowledge in a modern way with modern fabrics.
What makes this bra more comfortable than other styles of bras? Why would a woman want to wear this over another style of bra?
Bra wearing is a very personal experience and we know our customers have different reasons and different occasions to wear certain bras. The Fit Smart bra was designed to offer any woman the chance to be comfortable and well supported for whatever occasion she needs it.
Was there research done to find what women wanted from their lingerie when it comes to easy fit, comfort, and support?
We had test groups of customers wear the bra, along with the many women who work at Triumph who tested it and provided honest feedback. But the design evolution hasn’t stopped. We are continually evolving the concept with new customer feedback from stores and social media.
Is this bra geared towards women of a certain age and/or lifestyle?
No, it suits any woman who values comfortable support from her bra.
Are there plans for future colors/styles in future seasons?
Yes, we are currently working on extending the size range and we will also introduce a new look and new colors to the collection this fall.
Are there plans for other innovative designs and fits like Fit Smart from Triumph in the future?
Yes! Be on the lookout!
