With personalized service and an eye for facial structure, Sabria Celaj, known as the ‘Eyebrow Guru’, is helping her clients look and feel like their most fierce selves! Sabria, who has her own space within a swanky spa called JTAV on the Upper East Side, is shaping brows – as well as the confidence of her customers!
“Skincare and brow shaping go together, so after getting a facial, clients can also get their brows done,” explained Sabria. I believe that less is more. You don’t have to spend 45 minutes doing makeup and 25 minutes doing brows. For a lot of my clients it’s all about natural beauty.”
Sabria first started her journey of becoming the best brow guru in New York with clients coming to her home in Westchester and then built up a clientele at a hair salon in the city. She recently decided to move to a larger, more private area, so she could give her loyal followers a true VIP experience. “I give everyone attention and listen to them. It’s all about customer service. I redo most eyebrows every four to six weeks but I train my clients how to do a little clean-up in between. I also offer tinting in order to define lighter hairs without having to use a lot of brow pencil.”
This guru, who grew up playing with a pair of tweezers and a pair of mini scissors, always imagined herself shaping brows. “I didn’t have much confidence. I had a small face and big, bushy eyebrows, which I thought took over my face. At the age of ten I used to take a toothbrush and brush out my brows or would pretend shape my brows with a tweezers. This was really a calling for me. It’s so important for my clients to leave my spa and my chair feeling good about themselves. Their feedback is very important to me.”
When it comes to giving clients their most beautiful brows, Sabria first determines the shape of the face. “If a face is oblong or long, too much of an arch will give them an angry look, and it’s all about giving them a soft look. It has to do with having balance with your eye shape and eyebrow bone. I definitely see more men coming in as well. For men, I just tweeze them using a brow pencil. I make feather-like strokes. It just makes them look polished and put together.”
While Sabria, who is originally from Brooklyn, is now a leading brow specialist known within the beauty business, she once almost gave up on her career, but was saved by a social media star! “Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD and CEO and founder of F-Factor who has a large Instagram following, helped me a lot.The day that she came in I was going to throw in the towel and she was like, I need my brows done. She wanted to videotape it and I didn’t know anything about the importance of influencers at the time. She posted it and it wound up getting a lot of hits. Now my original clients tell me to make sure I don’t forget about them! For me it’s really all about honesty and giving them a positive result with their brow design.”
Doing brows is also very personal for Sabria. “I get really into it. I also listen to my clients. I comfort them and try to restore their spiritual health or just talk to them, mom to mom, and assure them that everything is going to be okay.”
The only other thing Sabria is as passionate about is her restauranteur husband and three daughters, and let’s just say that she is passion personified!
