Last night, Jennifer Lopez celebrated her MTV VMAs Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award with a star-studded party at Beauty & Essex in New York City arriving with boyfriend Alex Rodriquez, and close family and friends straight from the award show. The award is given to music performers to recognize their accomplishments in the music industry over the years. Jennifer is the first Latina to be awarded the Video Vanguard Award.
Paying homage to Jennifer’s career, Beauty & Essex was filled with her iconic memorabilia, including platinum gold albums, costumes, jeweled Yankees hats and jerseys, microphones, magazine covers, and more.
The evening’s host, manager Benny Medina, surprised Jennifer with a heartfelt speech about her journey from getting on the 6 train as a little girl in the Bronx to becoming the icon she is today. As everyone raised a glass, she was presented with a life size cake in the shape of the VMA Video Vanguard Award.
Mette Towley, of Pharrell’s Lemon video, arrived with choreographer Jacquel Knight and shut down the dance floor with an impromptu performance of the “lemon” dance. All eyes were on them as they danced in front of Jennifer’s table. Comedian Tiffany Haddish joined the party, jumping in and having her own dance off with Knight as the crowd gathered around.
Additional notable attendees included: Rita Ora, G Eazy, Olivia Munn, Winnie Harlow, Iggy Azalea, Keegan Michael Key, Prettymuch, Pentatonix, Liam Payne, Scooter Braun, among others.
