Other specialties include their Tuna Muchim, served with daikon and pickled plum and King Crab, with wasabi, crème fraiche, apple and radish. Start with the Crispy Sea Urchin, made with seaweed, rice paper and lardo, the Foie Gras, served with grilled daikon radish, chicken jus, omija and fig or Truffle Mandoo, with truffle scallop mousse. Share their unique plates, including the Truffle Donabe, made with black truffle, wild mushrooms and cured egg yolk, the seafood selection, with grilled seabass, shrimp, scallop, Thai basil and kaffir lime or the Waygu NY Strip Steak. Satisfy all your Korean BBQ cravings at Hyun, where their traditional recipes ensure that each dish is not only homemade, but full of history. Aside from tempting dishes, they also use only Korean cast iron, brassware and porcelain – everything looks and tastes better at Hyun! Their sensational sharable plates include Yeon-Dubu, homemade soft tofu, as well as Chawanmushi, a Japanese style steamed egg custard with seasonal garnish, Tangpyeong Chae, a Korean traditional mung-bean jelly with stir-fried veggies and beef, the Kimchi Biji-Jeon, a soybean curd residue based pancake with kimchi and Yook-Hwe, seasoned fresh raw waygu with Korean pear and sesame oil. Chef and Owner German Rizzo, who was born in raised in Turin, part of the Piedmont region of Italy, brings the authentic flavors of his childhood to this cozy spot! After working for the Cipriani group, this entrepreneurial chef decided to open his own restaurant in Astoria, Queens, Vite Vinosteria, beforing expanding people’s tastes with Plado Tasting Bar just this year. Enjoy tantalizing small tasting plates and tapas style dishes which are perfect for sharing with friends and family – just beware – you might not want to share after trying everything!
